Restaurant website: 7 things it can't do without

What a restaurant website needs to fill tables: a menu that reads well on mobile, online bookings, languages for tourists, Google Maps and speed.

Before walking into a restaurant, almost everyone looks it up on their phone. In those few seconds they decide whether to book or keep looking. These are the seven things that make the difference.

1. The menu on the site, not a PDF

A PDF forces people to zoom and takes ages to load. A menu built into the site, with categories and prices, reads easily with a thumb and Google can index it: you'll show up when someone searches for “black rice in Marbella”.

2. Online booking in two taps

Date, time, number of guests and phone. Nothing more. Every extra field loses customers. And if you're closed on Mondays, the form shouldn't let anyone pick a Monday.

3. A call button that's always visible

Many people prefer to call. On mobile, a fixed “Call” and “Book” button at the bottom of the screen turns visits into tables.

4. Several languages if you get tourists

On the coast, half your potential guests don't read Spanish. An English version (sometimes German or French too) is one of the fastest investments to pay off.

5. Real, appetising photos

Your dishes, your terrace, your team. Stock photos are obvious and erode trust. A few great photos beat a gallery of fifty.

6. Google Maps and Business Profile

Address, opening hours and a “Get directions” link. Plus a properly set up Google Business Profile linking to your site and menu: that's where people nearby find you.

7. Loads in under two seconds

With patchy signal on a beach street, a heavy site just doesn't load. Optimised images and a lightweight site make all the difference.

We've built a demo with all of this: Brasa & Mar. Open it on your phone and try it yourself.
